THE DFW KIDS ON THE MOVE AREEach month we will honor kids in DFW that deserve it. These are not always the kids that get the accolades but they're not always top scholars, MVP athletes, or star students. They are, however, awesome kids. They help in the home, they work to provide extra income, they go the extra mile to help the elderly in their communities. I believe that when we acknowledge the good in our kids, they will continue doing good. Their confidence is built when they get the encouragement and the acknowledgement of their good deeds.
If you know a kid that deserves to be honored at DFW Kids On The Move, please fill out the Nominate A Kid Form and we'll reach out to get more information. |
DFW Kids On The Move - January 2021
We mean no disrespect in honoring Amanda Gorman as a child, because we do respect her as a 22 year old adult. However, her recent rise to fame as the youngest person to deliver a poem at a US Inauguration, brings her to our spotlight. Amanda Gorman started her journey into poetry at a very young age, becoming a published author and being named National Youth Poet Laureate in 2017. Despite a speech impediment and an auditory processing disorder, Gorman persevered. She used her disabilities to empower her abilities to succeed. She graduated from Harvard magna cum laude. Amanda Gorman represents the true essence of what DFW Kids On The Move is all about. We salute her on her many accomplishments and her bright future! #amandagorman |

September 2020 - DFW Kids On The Move
This month we are honoring every student across DFW Metroplex. Whether you are doing virtual or in-person classes this school because of COVID-19, we salute you! You are proving that tenacity and determination are at the forefront of your minds. You are showing up, figuring things out, and moving forward with your education. Hats off to all of the parents, teachers, and entire school staff also that are making it all happen. They are helping you learn lessons during this time that will outlast this pandemic.
Congratulations to you all! - Teia Jones

DFW Kids On The Move August 2020
For August, I honor each one of the young ladies on the DFW Kids On The Move Editorial Team. These six young ladies are beautiful, bold, courageous, quiet, smart, fun, helpful, caring, and a great asset to their families and to the team.
When I decided to step out and create this team, I asked each one of them to commit to at least 90 days as writers and editors.
I am so glad that they each said yes. The joy that I receive is watching them decide what topics to write about and then create the most amazing interview questions ever.
I pray that they will continue on the team for another 90 days and beyond because I've seen tremendous growth in their confidence and in their work.
They each have a bright future in whatever they attempt in life.
Congratulations to Miya, Chloe, Amaya, Zariah, Jazzeline, and Nadia for being DFW Kids On The Move this month.
I am beyond proud of each one of you and I know that your parents are ecstatic. Keep up the great work ladies because you're definitely going places!
